Bemisaal Pub & Lounge

New Delhi, India

The design of this lounge demonstrates how restraint can be a compelling creative gesture. The space leverages its rustic setting and adds lighting to create an atmospheric dining environment that balances raw materiality with warmth. Exposed brick walls are left in their weathered state with dramatic uplighting that highlights hand-painted murals in white. These graphic elements are a direct reference to India’s unfiltered street culture. Exposing all structural elements, the ceiling creates a sense of depth and shadow above. Vintage style bulbs hover at varying heights adding a mysterious ambient glow. The materials utilized throughout minted to add a sense of tactility and prioritize durability. The bar continues the crude aesthetic as well. Open shelving makes glassware decor elements suited to the function of this space. Simple wooden dining tables pair with spindle-back chairs. The flooring uses large format grey tiles that remain muted and allow the walls and ceiling to dominate.
