This boutique resort development in Mukteshwar demonstrates sensitive site integration and contemporary vernacular architecture. The project comprises a main lodge and dispersed guest cottages that are positioned across a sloped and forested landscape. The cottages prioritize panoramic views of the distant mountain ranges while minimizing environmental impact through strategic placement and clustered planning.
The architectural language draws from regional construction methods and reinterprets local stone building through modern detailing. Load-bearing stone walls constructed from site-sourced materials anchor the structures to the terrain, their varied coursing and natural texture providing both thermal mass and visual continuity with the landscape. Upper volumes employ lighter constructions: roofing with timber cladding and extensive glazing that reduces the perceived mass while maximizing transparency towards the view. The main block utilizes a terraced section that follows the mountain’s natural topography, embedding lower levels into the hillside to reduce visual prominence and maintain its silhouette and modest scale.
Interior spaces embrace a material honesty: exposed stone walls continue inside, complemented by timber ceilings and minimalist furnishings that foreground the landscape. The planning preserves the existing tree cover, establishing a dialogue between built and natural environments.
